Koramkulam Sree Mahavishnu Dharmasastha Kshethram has a very ancient history of more than 1700 years. Sree Mahavishnu and Dharmashastha are the main idols of this temple. The temple is under a trust that has been formed to carry out the renovation of this ancient temple. This temple renovation has been initiated with the aim of making it the blessing for the village and the villagers. The Ashtamangala Devaprashna conducted by Sri. Padmanabha Sharma proposed that both Vishnu and Ayyappa must be equally treated and worshipped in the temple and the other moorthis like Nagadevas, Rakshas and Bhagavathy.
The history of Koramkulam Sree Mahavishnu Dharmasastha Kshethram can be dated back to about 1700 years. It was a temple where Sri Mahavishnu was worshipped as the main idol. Koramkulam Sree Mahavishnu Dharmasastha Kshethram had its own Chuttambalam, Theerthakulam, Namaskaramandapa and Chuttumathil. But it was destroyed during the attack of Tippu Sultan.
The temple renovation is a long cherished dream of all the people of Koramkulam. At first there were few stones and a floor in the place of the temple. People believed it as Lord Ayyappa temple remaining and they planned to construct a new temple there as per the Devaprashna. But they got a Chathurbahu Vishnu vigraha when they cut the tree for the temple construction. So the temple was created with Mahavishnu and Lord Ayyappa as the idols.Later in 1998, the Devaprashna conducted by Sri.Padmanabha Sharma proposed that both Vishnu and Ayyappa must be equally treated and worshipped in the temple and the other moorthis like Nagadevas, Rakshas and Bhagavathy. So we took the initiative to construct a new temple according to that. We aim to build separate temples for Maha Vishnu and Ayyappa. The Ayyappa temple is to be built outside the Chuttambalam in the Pradakshina way in separate Sreecovil and small temples for Upadevas like Rakshas, Bhagavathy and Nagas.
